Christmas Is a great time of year!
I wanted to check in and say that I hope you are having a great winter. Christmas is my favorite time of year. Winter is a fun time for us at the Fury household. There are not thunderstorms to scare our dogs, not many bugs to invade the hou
Hey sorry it's been so long since I've checked in. Not only do I write novels, I also make covers, and run a small business with my hubby. But it's just been so crazy doing some year end inventory with our business.
Sadly in this day and age it takes having two or three incomes or jobs to make ends meet. I some day hope that I can put my writing on the front burner and spend all of my time focusing on that, but until that day there will be times that I have to put everything on hold for life.
Also we had some close calls with Jack my baby, who would never understand it if I called him a dog. He went through some strange events. But thanks to a lot of prayers from some great friends, he's doing better now. I still hope to stay on track of having Mending Fences out before the end of the year. It may be released on Dec the 31st but I'm going to do my best to see that it's out.
The third book in the Maid for Martin series Celia's Knight, I also hope to have out by Dec if I can. It is possible that it might get pushed off until Jan or Feb but if at all possible I want to have them both out in December. I know that's going to mean a lot of work coming up at the end of the year but I'm going to do my best.
Thanks for being so patient, and I hope you are enjoying this lovely fall weather.
I wanted to share a little teaser from Mending Fences. This is part of chapter two. I hope you like it. Thanks for your interest. It's really hard to put out two books in one year when you're doing most of the work, but I'm trying.
Michael Steele was beginning to hate blind dates. Matter of fact he was beginning to hate dating in general. In this month alone he’d had over three dates, all arranged by co-workers.
The more he dated the worse the dates became. Today was one of the worst yet. He sat in the back of a church, watching a wedding procession. He wanted to take out his phone and check his emails but decided against it. Instead, he glanced at his watch. Maybe he should just leave, he doubted his date would notice.
He’d agreed to go out with Kathy Sanders a week ago. They’d talked on the phone making the date because of a mutual friend from the precinct. This was his last blind date for a while, maybe ever.
It was a good thing he dressed well, because Kathy ended up dragging him to a wedding. He wore dark slacks and a white dress shirt. Who had ever heard of having a wedding at night? The girl apologized saying it all came up at short notice, but that she needed the money and they were paying her to play the wedding march.
She would play for them to enter and leave, and then they would be free to go. At this moment he was in the mood to just slip out the door, but if he did leave, he’d never hear the end of it.
Mike couldn’t go now if he wanted to, the wedding march had started and soon the bride would walk down the isle. Besides, he didn’t know where the back door was, or if they had one.
For now he sat in the back of the church waiting for the wedding to be over. He knew some day he’d look back and laugh. David his partner would laugh tonight when he told him about this crazy date.
As the bride walked down the isle everyone rose. One of the brides’ maids looked a little too familiar. Michael looked away. He knew that he was going to have to take a break from dating. Too many women were starting to be on the list of those that had dated Michael Steele, but at least he hadn’t slept with this new group of women.
Ever since the night he’d came face to face with a man that had slept with one of his old girlfriends, casual sex had became a thing of the past for Michael. He doubted if anyone would believe him, but he didn’t care. It was his life and he had to like himself and now for the first time in a long time he did.
He knew down deep that he’d have to give Jessica White credit for the changes in his life, but what good had it done. She wouldn’t take his calls. She wouldn’t even consider having lunch.
Mike still became angry when he thought back to that morning when she’d come to the apartment unexpected and found Mandy coming out of his bedroom wearing one of his shirts.
Jessica had allowed him to explain and even claimed she believed he hadn’t slept with Mandy. Still she declared it was over, and wouldn’t have anything to do with him.
He’d done everything he could to impress her, but in the end the truth didn’t matter. It would serve her right if he’d started dating Mandy again, and the thought crossed his mind but he couldn’t do it, not even out of vengeance.
In reality he didn’t want to date Mandy, he didn’t want to date Kathy Sanders . . . he wanted Jessica White.
Sorry that's all for now!!! Talk soon!
